New York's Top Talent™ 2011

"I'd like to thank the March of Dimes, The Red Cross, and American Diabetes Association for accepting my invitation to attend New York's Top Talent™ 2011. These three charities are important to me for the help, support, love, and caring they give the people of our nation. As well as the work they do around the world."
~Tony Smiles w/♥

Here's a little information about each:

The March of Dimes is "the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health." They're dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

My brother was born with Spina bifida. Spina bifida is a birth defect that involves the incomplete development of the spinal cord or its coverings. The term spina bifida comes from Latin and literally means "split" or "open" spine. He lived a very short 5 months and then passed away.

Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering.

Today, in addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs. While I was in the US Army I got the opportunity to see the American Red Cross in Action at home and abroad. From doing blood drives and providing much needed blood to people to simply handing out water to people waiting in long hot summer line to say good bye to an American President.

The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. They lead the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fight for those affected—by diabetes. Source: http://www.diabetes.org/

The most influential woman in my life my Mother is surviving daily with diabetes. My Grandmother and Uncle are currently also having to surviving daily with diabetes. If this can be prevented and/or cured why not?

Thanks again to all these Charities for everything you do and I can't wait to see you in the Winter of 2011 for New York's Top Talent™.
